Watercolors by Celia Blanco

Violets watercolor on paper 12,5 x 18cm/ 5" x 7"  Available The one tiny bloom in my African Violet has inspired me to grab my paints. The leaves with their funny texture always attract me, I decided to highlight them more in my composition. I was also tempted to break the rules of perspective. Instead of placing the focus in the obvious center, I positioned it in the upper corner. My wish is to build up to the bloom. I hope it works. I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday!

 A Good Morning  29,5 x 22 cm watercolor on  paper Available  I always wish to improve when I challenge myself anyway I can. The Daily Paintworks weekly challenge is exactly what I am talking about...to paint pastry. It is naturally challenging to paint food from life and not a photograph because it means contemplating it, not eating it right away. It took me two days, safe guarding it in the refrigerator in the meantime. I wanted to capture the early morning light as it streams into my kitchen.  I am very proud, I fought the temptation to the very end!

"Indian Youth" watercolor on paper 29 x 20 cm/11".5 x 8 in. This is a step-by-step demonstration done in values of gray from Painting Watercolor Portraits that Glow   by Jan Kunz . This young man looks so beautiful and proud in his ceremonial dress. I wish I could match the ideas in my head with more skill in my hand.  I will try and do more studies like these in the future. I liked illiminating color and just focusing on the values and light.

"Rainy Day Primrose" 6 x 8 in./ 15 x 20cm. watercolor on paper It's a rainy Monday and I thought that painting some flowers might cheer me up. "Blue Watering Can"  8x6in./20x15cm watercolor on paper This watering can is a favorite item of mine. I painted it already last spring (shown below, have I improved since then? ) and was happy to do a solo portrait this time. I seem to always get behind on the weekend.  I should be on day 21 today and this is yesterday's work finished only today. I feel a little slow but decided to take my time nonetheless, enjoying the process. This is my twentieth painting, painted from life for the 30 paintings in 30 days Leslie Saeta challenge. "Little Carnations"10x15cm/ 4x6in. watercolor on paper   My last piece of postcard paper,finally! I'm happy because I normally don't like to work small. This is my last study of these little carnations. This is day 19 of the 30 day challenge.

watercolor on paper 8x11in./ 20x28cm. I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone and decided to approach this watercolor in a new way. I began painting with a large brush(#20) on a larger piece of paper than I've been using( the postcard size). No prelimanary drawing, just painting. This is number 18 out of 30 in the challenge.
