Sunflower
watercolor on paper
8.5" x 11.5"/21.5 x 29 cm.
I couldn't resist buying this sunflower from the market the other day. It usually dies before I manage to finish painting it from life. It almost felt like it waited for me to finish: it started drooping only once I was done.
my work in progress
Lovely painting, sunshine on paper. It's a perfect subject for winter.

DeleteDear Celia this is just a breath of fresh sunshine for me. You did a gorgeous job of painting this from life. Makes me wistful for summertime and for mine to start blooming once again. Have a great week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Debbie!! Big hugs to you!
DeleteI can't resist sunflowers either, though I find difficult to paint! On the upside, they can be painted at any stage of their life--Van Gogh did a beautiful painting of driend up sunflower heads.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful tip I will try. Thank you for the visit Laura!
DeleteI think the drooping adds a lot of interest and the negative spaces are wonderful!
