The rich vibrant colors of the season inspired me to paint this still life set up. I am unifying the objects by using similar colors, trying to work them together as a whole.
Hi Celia, I am just catching up on your blog and love what you have been doing. I love these autumn colours! I was so impressed to see you have been out and about sketching on location and I particularly loved your coffee cup and croissant. You were very persistent to then go on to sketch some street scenes. I wish I could join you over there to sketch in Rome - how amazing that would be! I hadn't thought how it must be hard to find a quiet unobtrusive spot to set up to sketch though - it must be quite a challenge in such a busy city. I hope you continue with it. I am trying to revive my sketching habit as it seems to have waned a little since the addictive phase I went through a while back.
Thank you for your words of encouragement! I always appreciate your visits, Wendy! It happens to us all, to stop and then pick it up again. Your pen and ink sketches were really beautiful, I hope you find the time to make some more soon! Hugs!
It's Not Just for Guacamole watercolor on paper 35.5x51cm. I hope everyone's New Year is off to a great start! I started this painting last year and set it aside for a while. I worked from a cell phone image I took while preparing breakfast. My work as it progressed, below... My favorite way to eat avocado is on toast with a poached egg, I sketched it after Christmas. It keeps me full until lunch time.
Pansies with Lemon watercolor on cold pressed Daler Rowney paper 10" x 10" / 25 x 25 cm. Available I wished to paint the happy faces of the pansies I planted earlier in the fall. They are hardy plants, lasting through the winter on my balcony. Soon I will have to pull them out and replace them with petunias or begonias, but not for another month. I love the different shades of purple and had fun mixing my own. I hope everyone is having a nice week!
Parsley watercolor on Garza Papel paper 20x14 cm. 300 grs Parsley is my favorite herb, I always keep a pot close to my kitchen. It is an interesting subject to improve leaf painting skills. I did minimal prelimanary drawing to keep the painting spontaneous. I focused on layering the shapes and observing the fresh colors in front of me. I found parsley leaves fun to paint and instrumental in gaining more awareness and control when painting leaves! working from life is always my favorite! finding the right mix of color I can't believe this is my 100th post. Thanks for stopping by!
J'adore ces belles couleurs ensoleillées!
