Sweet Renewal

Sweet Renewal
watercolor on Arches paper
8" x 8" / 20 x 20 cm

This painting is the second in a four part gift I am preparing. You can see the first one by clicking here.

I painted this set up from life completely except for the macaroons, which  I made up.  I am trying to keep the theme in the four paintings light and airy in color.

  1. Love it! You did a great job on the cup shading and design. The two paintings should look great together. I'll be waiting to see the others in the series.

    Bravo l'artiste !

    Gros bisous

  6. Gorgeous Celia. I love the light touch. So fresh. Your choice of colors for the macaroons is just perfect. Hope you will share the other two when you are finished. Hugs!

  7. I saw this on facebook and was impressed but seeing it in this format makes it so much more real. It is truly a gem of a painting!

African Violets

African violets sketchbook page I painted this sketch slowly, over a few day's time.  I use my sketchbook to experiment towards improving my skills although I seem to always find myself in a hurry to finish the sketches. It took my African Violets over two years to bloom, I felt compelled to capture this achievement! The flu is making the rounds around my household once more, I hope everyone else is well!

Flying Colors

"Flying Colors" 28.5 x 20cm / 11" x  8"in.  I love the color of this blue jay's feathers and its stance, so graceful ... the various blues were hard to imitate. I am working on leaving more white areas in my painting and loosening up a bit. Thank you to Mim White for allowing me to use her photo! When I saw her photograph, I immediately imagined it as a watercolor painting.

Happy 2015!!

Clementine watercolor on paper  20x14 cm.   I am very excited to start off the new year because of the opportunity to focus on what lies ahead. My  goals for the coming months include many positive wishes!  I have written out a physical list for the first time in my sketchbook  to be able to draw a balance at the end. My first painting of the year is a clementine. The contrasting colors and the long shapes of the leaves  are always fun to paint; the fruit's taste is definitively delicious and brightens the dreary winter. I wish all of you a joyful, creative year! Happy 2015!
